About Me…

My name is Alice Elgie-Smith, also known as Wandering Alice. I’m a writer ✍🏻 and yogi passionate about slowing down and simplifying life.

Within this online space I share written words — and a monthly podcast 🎤 — about my nomadic lifestyle, nature, yoga, mindfulness, child-led learning, simplicity, life, death, and anything else that bubbles up, all with a good dash of slow.

I also offer my lovely 🌟 Slow Members 🌟 a monthly mindfulness practice and community space to nurture a sense of (re)connection—with self, the earth, and each other.

In my own quest for slow simplicity — and greater opportunity to live a life true to my heart — sixteen years ago with my husband, one-year-old daughter, and our doggie, we sold our house in the UK and left our secure income to go in search of a different way of living...

This adventure has seen us travelling in vans through Europe, exploring the UK by narrowboat, living in a yurt in the Scottish Highlands, a smallholding in Central Portugal, and a bijou house on a Greek island (amongst other things!).

In 2024 we’ll be splitting time between off-grid caravan life on a beautiful croft in the Highlands of Scotland and our renovation project, a fermette in the Corrèze region of South Central France.

As a 👉writer👈 I enjoy weaving these experiences into articles, short stories and poetry and as a 👉yoga teacher👈 I love to share the practices that bring a sense of deeper calm and meaning into my own life, with others.

Into the above monthly mindfulness practices I weave poetry readings and seasonal nature inspirations — along with heart-opening journalling prompts — to help you tune in and explore your deepest thoughts.

Community Connection

Enjoy occasional LIVE online community gatherings where we share our life journeys over a warm drink, or enjoy a practice together. There is also a monthly chat space where we all get to connect and share.
